Random path vs custom slug
A random slug is fine for a one-off paste. A custom slug is better when the link will be spoken (“go to srt.to slash launch”), printed, or reused for months. You set the slug when you shorten the URL.
Slug rules
- Letters, numbers, underscore, and hyphen
- Typically 3–32 characters
- Must be unique on that host (srt.to or your domain)
- Product paths are reserved: login, privacy, docs, and similar names
Branded / custom domains
Free includes one custom domain. You add a hostname you control, prove it with the DNS record we show, then create links on that host. Visitors see go.yourbrand.com/offer instead of only srt.to/…. The redirect still runs on srt.to infrastructure.
If DNS verification fails, the domain stays unverified and will not serve links. You can remove it and try again. Details live in app settings after you sign in.
When to keep srt.to in the URL
Use srt.to when you want the shortest hostname and do not need your brand in the domain. Use a custom domain when trust or brand guidelines require your name in the link.
